Geological Tour of Milos by bus (Part A)

 

09.00 – 18.00

Guided visit of the Milos Volcanic Centres and products, in the North-East part of the island. Lunch at Pollonia

18.00 Return to the hotels

20.30 – 22.30 Dinner at Adamas, at a traditional restaurant

 

Monday, 22 September 2003

Geological Tour of Milos by bus (Part B)

 

09.00 – 18.00

Guided visit of the Milos Volcanic Centres and products, in the South-West part of the island. Lunch at Aghios Sostis

18.00 Return to the hotels

 

Milos Field Trip Fee: 

150 Euros per person (for participants and accompanying persons)

- Bus transfer (when needed according to the program)

Presentation of the Santorini volcanic field evolution and field trip routs and details (Saturday, 20 September 2003 -Milos Conference Center)

Travel from Milos to Piraeus by a late night boat (duration of the journey: approx.  5h)

Travel from Piraeus to Santorini by a high speed boat (duration of the journey: approx. 4h 30’)

 

Sunday, 21 September 2003

 

12.30 Arrival on Santorini – Transfer to the hotel

14.00 – 15.30 Lunch at Fira, at a local restaurant

17.00 – 22.00 Visit of North Thera and Oia

- Transfer to Oia

- Geological stops and discussion on the North Thera Volcanic Centres.

- Guided visit of Oia – The famous sunset

- Dinner at a traditional local restaurant

- 22.00 Transfer back to the hotels

 

Monday, 22 September 2003

 

09.00 – 17.00 Boat tour of the “Volcano” and caldera cliffs

- Transfer to Athinios port

- Boat tour of the caldera. Visit of the Kameni’s historic volcanic centres.

- Possibility for swimming. Homemade lunch on board.

- Caldera cliffs  observation and discussion.

- 17.00 Transfer back to the hotels

 

Tuesday, 23 September 2003

 

09.00 – 16.00 Geological Tour of Santorini (by bus)

- Visit of a quarry.

- Observation and discussion on the products of the large explosive eruptions.

- Visit of the South Thera Volcanic Centres.

- Guided visit of the Akrotiri Archaeological Site.

- Visit of the South Thera caldera cliffs.

- Possibility for swimming and lunch on site.

- Visit of the Skaros volcanic centre.

- 16.00 Transfer back to the hotels

 

Santorini Field Trip Fee per participant:  570 Euros

What is included:

- Three nights accommodation (21-22-23 September) in a single room

- Boat ticket from Milos to Piraeus (in a four beds cabin)

- Boat ticket from Piraeus to Santorini (by high speed boat)

- Entrance fee to Akrotiri Excavations

PAYMENT

 

Payment should be made, in advance of the Post Conference Field Trips, by bank transfer or credit card (MasterCard, Visa). On site registrations will be paid in cash or by credit card.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY  

 

Total refund of all prepaid Post Conference Field Trips fees will be made, excluding an administration charge of 15% of the total amount, provided that advanced written notification is submitted 17 days prior to the Conference. No refunds will be made for cancellations after 31 August 2003
